Since X.A.N.A.'s defeat, the Lyoko Warriors slowly drifted back into the routine called life. They grew up, married, and had children. Now, some twenty plus years later, the gang is now sending their own children to attend Kadic Academy like they had before…..
And thus a new generation begins.

Ch. 1: First Day of School
"Michelangelo?" a voice from downstairs called. "Michelangelo, it is time to wake uuuup." A young boy blinked his eyes open, then yawned, stretching his arms out in front of him. He sat up slowly and shuffled to his dresser, waking quickly after his wake-up call. He pulled out a red-orange short-sleeved hoodie from it, along with a long sleeved red shirt to go under it. He went to his closet and grabbed a pair of dark gray jeans and his brown sneakers. After he changed from his night clothes to his day clothes, he went across from his room straight to the bathroom. "Michelangeloooo! Are you up yet?"

"I am! I'm in the bathroom! I'll be out in a second." The thirteen-year-old boy, whose name is Michelangelo –though his friends and most of his family called him Angelo- got into the bathroom and looked at his reflection before grabbing a comb and brushing his hair. He had blonde hair with a red tint to it, with just a few streaks of purple at the front of his bangs at the tips. He was often compared to looking just like his dad, which was true. They did look alike. But they weren't so much alike in personality. He blinked his dark violet eyes before heading downstairs for breakfast.

He made it to the bottom of the steps before pausing to look into the kitchen, like he did every morning. It was a habit he had ever since he was little, but he didn't mind. The view was just about always the same.

A person's back was to him, with blonde hair tied back in a small ponytail to avoid hairs in the food. An apron tied around said person's waist. The smell of breakfast and coffee. It was so normal, but it made Angelo feel safe and happy.

He walked in, smiling, and slid into one of two chairs at the table. "Good morning, Dad. What's for breakfast?" he asked.

The person turned, showing his father, Odd Della Robbia. His hair had grown longer since he was a student at Kadic, with bangs to the right of his face, the purple streak grown into it. He looked a little older, too, even though he was in his mid-thirties. But due to an accident he had been in years before, his health had become fragile. His dad was taking a job as an assistant physical education teacher with Jim, the aging teacher there. His dad had a hard time finding work because of his health, so the fact he had one now was a relief for Angelo, who always worried about his father's health.

Mr. Della Robbia smiled at his son. "Good morning, Michelangelo. It's fried eggs and toast. Your favorite." His dad placed the fresh plate of eggs and toast in front of him, with a glass of milk, just the way he liked it. His dad sat in the other chair with only a cup of coffee for his breakfast.

Angelo frowned. "Dad…why aren't you eating?"

His father raised his eyebrows. "Oh, I'm not hungry. Just nervous about starting a new job, since I had lost so many before."

Angelo's frown deepened. "Dad, you always tell me breakfast is an important meal. Why do you always have to skip it?"

His dad sighed. "You know how tight money is around here. I'll be fine. You know I'm used to it."

Angelo sighed exasperatedly. "What about your medicine?" he asked.

Mr. Della Robbia coughed, looking flustered. "Oh, I took it." he said hurriedly. The boy knew that was a lie.

"Dad, you know the doctor said that they would make you feel better." he said. "Then you won't be able to get so sick so easily all the time."

"Oh, I know, but you know, medicine's not exactly cheap…Besides," Odd leaned forward and placed his hand on his son's head, lightly ruffling the boy's hair. He smiled tenderly. "I have more important things to worry about than my own health. Like you." He sat back in his chair and drank some more of his coffee.

Angelo looked down at his plate for a moment. He hated that his dad would not take care of himself like he should…or let him take care of his dad. But his father always insisted that it was the parent's job to take care of the kid, and the kid's job to be a kid. Angelo hated being just a kid. If he were older, than he could take a job or two and help his dad out so his dad could have a break and not push himself too hard. Being a single parent couldn't be an easy thing for him.

Mr. Della Robbia let his hair down from his ponytail and shook it a bit, his hair falling just past his chin. He looked at the clock. "Almost time to head out. Finish up so I can clean these dishes before we go." Angelo nodded and finished the last of his breakfast. He handed his dad the plate, and headed up the stairs for his backpack. He grabbed the green bag from his floor and hopped back down the stairs, his dad already at the door. He smiled. "Off we go to Kadic."

Angelo smiled as he followed his dad out to the car. If you could call it that. It was very old; very old. And most of the time it wouldn't start.

They entered the car and Odd turned the key in the ignition. The car vroomed, but then spat, not starting once again. His dad groaned and hit his head against the steering wheel. "Stupid car…" he muttered. He tried again. And again. And again. No life to the ancient vehicle. Angelo opened the door.

"I'll call Mr. Belpois," he said, knowing the drill. He went back inside while his dad tried looking at the engine again, and dialed the Belpois home phone. He waited until he heard the phone picked up. "Hello, Uncle Jeremie?" he said familiarly. "Yeah, it's the car again. Could you please pick us up since you and Aunt Aelita work at Kadic as well? Thank you! Bye!" He put the phone back on its stand and went to the door. "Uncle Jeremie and Aunt Aelita are on their way, Dad." he reported dutifully.

"Good," he heard his dad say. "Man, I hate bothering them about this time and again…"

"You know that they don't mind it," Angelo said reassuringly as his dad went back into the house. "It's not your fault the car won't work."

His dad sighed. "I know. It's just…" He sighed again and flopped on the couch. "I wanted to take you to school myself, on your first day and all…" He twiddled his thumbs sadly as he said this, looking depressed.

Angelo smiled at his dad. "I know, but it's okay." he said, sitting next to his dad. "I don't mind. It can't be helped. I'm just happy that you'll be able to come my first day of school, anyway." He smiled up at his dad, trying to make him feel better.

Odd looked down at his son. He squealed and hugged him. "Oooh, you're so cute when you try to make me feel better!" he said, his son in his arms. Angelo inwardly groaned. His dad had a very doting personality, which was at times like this, annoying. "I'm sooo lucky to have a cute son like you!"

"Um, that's-that's great, Dad…" Angelo muttered, wondering how he was going to escape this time…

"Wow, Odd, I know you're excited about Angelo starting Kadic today, but they kind of need him to be three-dimensional rather than flat, you know." Angelo sighed with relief when his dad released him to greet and apologize yet again to his 'Uncle' Jeremie. Jeremie Belpois was a science teacher at Kadic, but also had a position as a science professor in robotics in a university nearby, earning him the title 'Professor Belpois.' His dad often told him how smart Jeremie was in school, and that it was no wonder he was a scientist. In fact, he was surprised that Jeremie hadn't invented anything yet.

Aelita Belpois, his wife, was a math teacher at Kadic and also an old friend of Odd's. Her pink hair fell to her shoulders and her green eyes were bright with amusement. She gave Angelo a motherly smile and he smiled back. The Belpois' also had children, the twins Maya and James. They were Angelo's age and also were attending Kadic. They had been there a year longer than Angelo since he and his dad recently moved so he could be able to attend Kadic since his dad got a job there. They both had their mother's pink hair and green eyes, and were very smart, like their parents. They were fun to be around, too. And Angelo also had a smallish crush on Maya.

"Go ahead into the van, Angelo," Aelita said kindly. "The twins already have your spot open."

"Thank you, Aunt Aelita, Uncle Jeremie." he said politely before heading to the blue van parked in front of his very small home. He opened the back door to see the twins, smiling at him in welcome, and slid into his seat next to James.
James, the elder by two minutes, was wearing khaki pants with a light blue polo shirt. He looked just like their father but with scruffier looking hair, like his mom, but had no need for glasses, since both the twins had their mother's eyesight. Maya, the younger, was wearing a pink turtleneck t-shirt and white capris, topped off with pale pink shoes. She looked just like their mother, Aelita, and had a very sweet personality. The threesome laughed to themselves about Angelo's dad's car troubles. This has happened more often than not.

The adults got into the car, with Jeremie at the wheel and Aelita in the passenger seat. Odd took one of the other seats in the back, again apologizing to Jeremie. "I know that this is probably bothering you to have to come every other day to get us, Jere," he said, his head hanging down in shame. "I promise that I'll make it up to you..."

Jeremie chuckled. "Dinner at your place sounds like a good way to make up for it. We'll bring our own dishes, of course…"

"Absolutely not!" Odd said immediately. "Every time you bring your own food, you coincidentally bring more than 'intended,' thus leave it at my place. I will not allow it."

Aelita sighed. "Come on, Odd. Will it kill you to let us help you out a little? I mean, with your health as bad as it is and all, every little bit should help. Besides, you have Angelo to think about, too, remember?"

Angelo heard his dad sigh. "I know. But, it is my responsibility to raise my son and to put a roof over our heads. You two have enough with the twins." He flashed a smile at the three young teens in the back. "I'm just...in a rough patch right now. I'll get us through it. So, please, I know you want to help, but let me handle it on my own, okay?"

Angelo sighed and looked over at his friends, who also returned the same sad look he was giving them. They all knew his dad's health was the problem, and he was being stubborn and trying to push himself too hard. Angelo's grandparents, his aunts, even his dad's friends had all offered to take care of Angelo until Odd was able to support them both, or at least take care of himself better and recover, but he had refused more than once. He didn't want to send Angelo away, or 'abandon' his responsibility as a father. As his father had stated time and again: 'Michelangelo is the only thing that keeps me on my feet every day.'

"Here we are." Angelo looked over the twins to get a better look of his new school. There were lots of other kids on the grounds, and he saw two in particular who were waiting at a bench near the entrance. Jeremie turned his head and smiled at the kids while Mr. Della Robbia opened the door to let himself and the kids out.

Angelo, Maya, and James ran off to meet up with the other two kids that were waiting for them, not hearing the laughter from the three adults as Jeremie let his wife out of the car and drove the car to the parking lot and Aelita lead Odd off to meet up with the current principal of the academy.

"Yuriko! Alec!" The brother and sister looked up, smiling as their friends ran up.

"Hey, Angelo. Welcome to Kadic." the elder, Yuriko, or Yuri for short, greeted. The girl looked just like her mother, but with her father's brown hair and his eye shape and color. She was wearing a hunter green vest over a black t-shirt and blue jean capris. Her younger brother by one year, Alec, looked like their father but with their mother's black hair and eyes. He wore a tan button-up shirt and blue jean pants. The older girl smirked. "About time you got your butt here. It would have been boring without you around."

"Sorry for keeping you waiting then, Yuri." Angelo said, laughing. "It's great to be here."

"You're telling me." Alec said, speaking for the first time since they got there. He looked up at his sister. "Now another one of our friends has a parent teaching here. When are Mom and Dad going to decide to come, too, Onee-chan…?"

Yuri sighed exasperatedly. "For the last time, Alec, they aren't teachers! Not everyone we know has to work or come to Kadic, you know!"

Alec stared up at her for a minute. "But Odd oji-san is working here now, along with Aelita oba-san and Jeremie oji-san…"

"That doesn't mean a thing, Alec…" Yuri said in annoyance. "And you don't have to use honorifics all the time! You know that!"

Alec blinked and turned away. "I know. But I chose to use them at that moment."

"Why?"

"Because I wanted to, and I knew that you would get annoyed because I can remember Japanese better than you."

"You little twerp-!" Yuri fumed, while the other three kids laughed hysterically. It seemed that Alec lived to annoy his sister on some days, which was forever amusing to the others. Yuri turned away from him, growling. "Just you wait. I'll get you when you least expect it."

"Just don't get me, next time," James said, the first of the twins to talk for the first time. "Last time you tried to get Alec, I was still finding feathers stuck in my clothes for two weeks."

"I said I was sorry…" Yuri said grudgingly.

Maya turned to Angelo. "Come on, let's see what your schedule is! I hope that you'll be in all our classes!" Angelo nodded, hoping that he did share the same classes as his friends…and with a certain pinkette…

Later…

Angelo walked over to the table that Alec and Yuri were holding for him and the twins. He sat down across from Alec, smiling at the other boy. "How are you enjoying your first day?" Alec asked.

"It's great!" Angelo beamed. "I can't believe the school is so big!"

"Yeah, and it really stinks when you're late for class." Alec said.

Yuri smirked. "You should know, right, Alec?"

Alec glared at his big sister and frowned, looking a lot like their father. "No one asked you." he grumbled. Angelo and Yuri snickered as Alec stabbed at his food with his fork.

Yuri looked up and smiled. She stood up and waved. "Over here!" Angelo looked behind him to see Maya and James coming up to the table. Maya sat next to Angelo and James took Alec's other side.

James, who looked more like his dad minus the glasses, raised an eyebrow at Alec. "What happened this time?" he asked.

"Alec's pouting because he's a big baby." Yuri replied.

"Hey! I am not!" Alec exclaimed indignantly. This received giggles all around from the other members of the table. Alec glared at his friends. "Some friends you guys are." He grumbled.

"Aw, don't be that way, Alec," Maya said cheerfully. "You know we're just teasing."
"Yeah, and its fun because of your reactions." Angelo piped, grinning at him brightly. "But we would never make fun of you hurtfully. You know that."
Alec groaned. "I know…I still don't like it, though."

Yuri smirked at her brother. "That's what you get for being my little brother." she said teasingly, hugging him. He cringed, like she was poisonous. This resulted in another around of laughter.

The group finally calmed down and ate in peace, talking idly about classes and the year so far. When they finished, they took their trays and dropped them off, then left the lunchroom.

"Well, I better head to class." Yuri said. She winked at the others. "Have fun in phys ed!"

"Oh, we will!" Alec called to his sister. "Angelo's dad is in it!" That's right. Angelo had forgotten that his dad was also starting Kadic today…as a phys ed assistant for Jim, the current, and probably soon retiring, teacher of said class. Just how old was he…?

Before he knew it, Angelo was in the gym with Alec and the twins, waiting on class to start. He was wearing a plain red t-shirt and shorts, with his same brown sneakers. Maya had changed into a pink tank top with khaki shorts, and James in a gray sweat shirt with blue shorts. Alec was in a brown t-shirt with green shorts. The foursome chattered along with the rest of the class, sitting together and laughing.

"Well, well, well. Where did you pick up the runt?" Angelo looked up immediately, bristling at the word 'runt.' He had inherited his father's 'short stage' as his 'uncles' and 'aunts' often teased, and he hated being called a 'runt.' Or any other word that means short. His dad had apparently been defensive about his small size, too, when he was his son's age.

A girl with long dark hair was standing in front of him, hands on her hips, and a smart smirk on her face. She looked like she was a pain in the-

"Hello, Madeline." Alec grumbled, his eyes cutting her a death glare. She obviously ignored it and leaned close to him.

"I've been thinking aaaaall about you yesterday, Alec." she said, giving him a smile that made Angelo want to throw up. "I was wondering if you considered my-"

"For the final time, no! I don't want to go on a date with you!" he snapped. Now this came as a surprise to Angelo because, other than when he and his sister got in fights, Alec was normally a very calm and kind person. Madeline must get under the usually cool-tempered brunette's skin easily. And often.

Madeline huffed. "Well, you didn't have to be rude. But don't worry, sweetheart," she said, leaning forward to his face, "I only have eyes for you."

"Oh, so you wear blinders so you won't have to see anyone else but Alec? Wow, what a narrowed minded person you are." Madeline turned sharply at Angelo, giving him an icy glare.

"Watch it, twerp." she warned him. "Or else I'll-"

Angelo raised an eyebrow at her. "You'll do what?" he asked coolly.

"Madeline, you may want to be careful," Maya warned the other girl. "You don't want to mess with Angelo."

Madeline huffed. "Who asked you, Brainiac?" she asked haughtily.

Angelo grit his teeth. "Better a Brainiac than brain dead like you, right?" he asked cheekily. No one gets away with messing with Maya with him around.

Madeline sputtered, stunned and thrown off guard. It didn't stop her for long. "Why you-!"

A whistle blew and the students looked up. The gym teacher came in. He was a man of impressive size, as he was tall and on the heavy side. His gray hair was held back by a white headband with red trimming, and wore a burgundy track suit shirt and dark track pants.

Behind him was Angelo's dad, who he recognized instantly with a smile. His dad was wearing a purple t-shirt and darker purple shorts, unbeknownst to Angelo exactly what he had normally worn to phys ed when he was a student at Kadic. He smiled back at Angelo and gave a friendly nod to the twins and Alec, who returned it with smiles.

The older teacher coughed into his hand. "Alright, you guys all know me. I'm Jim, and I am in charge here. We are going to be absolutely serious here, so no horsing around, or else." Mr. Della Robbia coughed slightly. Jim turned to look behind him. "Oh, and this is the assistant physical education teacher, Mr. Odd Della Robbia."

Odd tilted his head and smiled pleasantly at the students. "Pleased to meet you." he said cheerfully.

Jim continued talking with his gruff voice. "He used to be a student here just like you, but if I ever catch any of you pulling the stuff that he did, and you'll get detention for a week!"

Angelo's dad looked over at Jim, giving him a slightly annoyed look. "Was that really necessary, Jim? I mean, it's not like they know what I did as a kid…"

"After a kid like you, I'm not taking any chances." Odd just sighed and rolled his eyes.

This received a confused look from Angelo and the others. Just how bad was his dad when he was a kid?

As Angelo looked around, he noticed that most of the girls in his class were keeping a very close eye on his dad, looking a little moony. Why were they making those faces at him? He flashed James a look and the pinkette twin shrugged, as well as Alec. Girls were weird.

Jim began his instruction. "Okay, today we are going to do flips. You are to jump off the horse, on the beam, and then land on the mat. Got it?" The class looked at him blankly.
Angelo's dad placed a hand on the older teacher's shoulder.

He smiled as he said, "Perhaps I should provide an example for them to go by?" he suggested.

Jim coughed, embarrassed. "Well, I suppose, since they can't seem to be picking it up on their own."

Odd smiled, clapping his hands together. "Excellent." He walked up to the starting place before the horse. He turned to the students. "Now, just to let you all know, I haven't done this in many, many years, so it may not be perfect. After all, I have a good feeling that a good many of you will surely be able to surpass this old man in performing this move any day of the week." Angelo noticed some of the girls turn pink as his father talked. He began hearing feverish whispering while his dad was talking.

"He's so handsome!" one girl whispered.

"Is he really going to be our teacher?!" said another.

"Oh, I hope his demonstration goes perfectly!" yet another said.

Angelo looked over at Alec. "What's up with them?" he asked.

Alec shrugged. "I don't know." he said unhelpfully. Angelo frowned and turned his attention back to the front. He saw his dad clear his throat and measure his distance between himself and the horse carefully. He suddenly dashed forward, and Angelo felt a moment of terror for a moment. His dad's health! Would that hinder him? Angelo almost closed his eyes, but kept them open should he need to rush straight to his dad.

His dad made it to the horse and placed his hands on it, leaning forward and straight to the beam. He flipped and landed in a handstand on the beam, balancing perfectly straight. A collective gasp ran through the students, and Angelo's heart was beating fast in his chest. His father pushed off the beam with his hands and arched his back, landing feet first on the mat on the other side of them beam.

Everyone in the room was silent with shock and amazement as Mr. Della Robbia sighed calmly and turned to the class with a smile. "And that is how it is done." he said pleasantly, stepping off the mat and taking his place next to Jim. "I hope that that has helped you all a little bit in understanding what Jim is asking of you. I'm sorry for being so rusty at this, but I am sure each and every one of you will be able to succeed well in this class."

Jim looked over at Odd, surprised. "Well, Odd, I never expected to hear you ever say something like that." he said knowingly.

The younger man raised his eyebrows in surprise. "How so, Jim?"

Jim placed his hands on his hips as he said, "Well, you just never seemed to be the type of person to, well, say things like that."

"Oh. Well, I guess it came from becoming a parent, I suppose." he said with a modest shrug.

Jim's eyebrows, as well as most of the girls', rose in surprise. "You're a parent?" he asked in shock.

Odd gave him a confused look. "Well, yes. My son's attending Kadic. Didn't the principal tell you that, Jim?"

Jim huffed and replied gruffly, "I'm just saying because I would have known that a spawn of yours would be in this school in a heartbeat, that's all." Odd did not look amused at Jim's comment.

"My 'spawn,' as you so tactfully stated, is in this class." he said, crossing his arms.

Jim straightened his posture. "O-oh, really?"

"Yes. He's over there. The one with reddish hair." he said, pointing at Angelo. Angelo tilted his head at the now embarrassed Jim, who began sputtering incoherently.

"That's your kid?" he asked. "He hasn't said a word, or-or tried to disrupt class."

"That's because, contrary to popular belief, my son is not my 'doppelganger,' as I have had some people call him. So you have nothing to worry about." Jim looked flabbergasted as Odd turned to the students with a serious expression. "While Jim tries to collect his thoughts, who would like to be our first volunteer?" Silence for a while before Alec shrugged and stood up. Odd smiled. "Ah, thank you, Alec. Go ahead."

Alec straightened his shoulders before running forward and pushing off of the horse. He landed on his hands on the beam, but wobbled and fell over onto his side. Odd was quick by his side to make sure he was okay while Alec got to his knees, red with embarrassment. Odd smiled and told him it was okay and very good for a first time.

Pretty soon others were joining in, some making the same mistake as Alec, others slipping on the horse, and such. Each time Odd offered encouragement while Jim watched on with a frown on his face. Angelo smiled gratefully. It seemed like his dad was already liking his new job and that the students liked him, too. Of course they would. His father was that kind of person.

Jim clapped his hands together. "Alright, you guys, time to go and get changed back into your regular clothes, and don't even think about causing any mischief." While the students went off to change, Angelo heard a hurried apology from Jim to his dad. "Sorry about the 'spawn' thing. It's just, well, it's kind of a surprise and all, so um," Odd held up his hand and smiled.

"Hey, don't worry about it, Jim. I know you didn't mean to, and I apologize for being a little harsh earlier myself. I'm just being a dad watching out for his kid. It just comes naturally to me, you know?"

Angelo smiled and left with the others to the changing room. He was glad to know he had a dad who always watched out for him.

He walked out with James, Maya, and Alec when they heard a loud din not far from them. James raised his eyebrows. "What's all the noise about?" he asked. Not waiting for anyone to answer, the four students went to investigate. They saw a small group of girls flocking Angelo's dad. James' confused look became even more confused. "What are they doing with Uncle Odd?" he asked curiously. Angelo shrugged, just as confused.

One girl looked up at him. "Mr. Della Robbia? I thought your demonstration today was really good. I can't believe you haven't done it in years."

Odd smiled politely. "Why, thank you, Jennifer. That is very kind of you. And please, feel free to call me Odd. You call Jim Jim, so don't bother with formality around me, either. Besides, Mr. Della Robbia is my father." The girls blushed a little bit at his smile. "Now I've got to go now. I have a lot to do, and Jimbo here is giving me the grand tour of how things are supposed to go around here."

"Hey, who gave you permission to call me 'Jimbo'?" Jim demanded indignantly.

Odd shrugged. "Sorry. Jim. Better?"

Jim narrowed his eyes at him. "Just because you work here now doesn't mean you'll be getting any special privileges like calling me by a nickname or anything, Odd." he said. "You're still the scrawny little trouble maker that you were when you attended Kadic to me, no matter what anyone says."

Odd sighed. "Alright, Jim. Whatever you say. Now, about that um, how'd you put it, 'showing the ropes' tour you were talking about…?" he asked.

"Uh, right. Come on." Odd smiled at the girls.

"You better head out to class. Have a good day." He turned and left, following Jim to his office. Once he left, the girls squealed.

"Oh my goodness, I can't believe he's going to teach us!" one girl said.

"He said my name!" the girl named Jennifer said, blushing.

"Isn't he handsome or what?!" exclaimed another.

"Um, excuse me, but why are you talking about Uncle Odd like that?" James asked, walking up to the group with the others following behind him.

The girls stared at him. "Uncle…Odd…?" one said. They freaked. "He's your uncle?!"

James jumped, startled. "Well, not really. He's an old friend of my parents, and Alec's parents. We just call him 'Uncle Odd' because he insists on it. Actually, we all kind of call each other's parents familiarly like that…But he's my friend Michelangelo's dad."

The girls turned and looked at Angelo. He smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his head. "Um, hi. I'm Angelo. The guy whose dad you're going nuts over."

The girls stared at him, then squealed as they suddenly flocked him. "What's your dad like?!"

"Is he single?!"

"Tell us, tell us everything about him!"

Angelo stiffened and leaned back, feeling claustrophobic at the moment. Oh, he wasn't for real, but at the moment he sure felt like it. "Uh, well, he's nice enough, a little bit scatter-brained sometimes, and yeah, he is, and uh…I've got to go. Because of…class! Mustn't be late for class!" He ran out quick as a flash, his friends right behind him. That was too weird! Girls were asking about his dad!

They reached the quad, panting heavily from their run. Yuri came up to greet them, but her friendly expression turned to confusion. "Eh? What happened to you guys? You look like you've been running from the cops."

Alec huffed and answered for them. "Some of the girls in our class were asking Angelo about his dad."

Yuri's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Really? In mine, too! I was really confused by it, but they kept giving him goo-goo eyes. I swear, I thought I almost saw those hearts flying all around them…" Yuri shuddered slightly, rubbing her arms. "I mean, Uncle Odd's not a bad looking guy, but…that's your dad we're talking about. It's too weird to imagine that."

"You have no idea…" Angelo said, shuddering himself. He looked around, as if checking to make sure none of the girls had followed him, and sighed, sitting one of the benches. "Well, at least they're not here right now. I don't know what I would do."

"Well, not to worry about Madeline, as she has her eyes all on Alec." James said teasingly, making Alec turn to glare at him.

Yuri laughed. "Oh, yeah. I forgot about Alec's puppy. How's your 'sweetheart' doing, little brother?"

Alec glared furiously at his older sister. "I don't like her one bit! She's so annoying, and it drives me crazy when she follows me around! She's like a stalker or something!"
The others laughed at the boy. It was so easy to get him like that…it was too good to pass up most days. Angelo winked at his friend. "Well, maybe you'll grow to like her, huh?"

"Don't forget: she called you a runt."

Angelo was very quiet. "I am not a runt!! My dad was a little small as a kid, too, and look how tall he is now! That means that I'll get tall, too, darn it!" He crossed his arms in front of him and looked off, grumbling darkly and incoherently.

The rest of the group now laughed at him while Alec poked him in the ribs with his elbows. "Angelo, I know red-heads are supposedly infamous for their hot tempers, but you don't have to take it to the extreme." He grinned while Angelo glared at him.

"Oh, look, there's your puppy, Alec." he said, pointing out Madeline, who spotted the black-haired boy and was already headed towards him. "You better go and give her some lovin' from her master." He pushed Alec towards Madeline, an absolutely wicked grin on his face. When Madeline grabbed Alec and dragged him off with her, he stuck his tongue out at the furious boy playfully. "That'll teach him." he said, smiling smugly for a bit.

Yuri laughed as she put a hand on his shoulder. "You do realize he's going to get you back for that, right?"

"I know," he said with a shrug, "but he knows better than to mess with me. Payback's never nice, especially when delivered by me."

James and Maya joined Yuri as she laughed. "Well, we better head to the front gate, guys." James said, looking down at his watch. "Mom and Dad and Uncle Odd won't want us keeping them waiting for long."

Maya and Angelo nodded in agreement. "We'll see you tomorrow, Yuri." Maya called as they walked off.

"Yeah, and be sure to ask Alec how he's doing with his lost puppy!" Angelo added playfully. Yuri nodded, chuckling as she headed off to the dorms. Angelo sighed as he adjusted his strap of his backpack higher on his shoulder. "This is really great, being able to go to school with you guys now." he said happily. "Now I get to see everyone more often!"

"And we're glad you're here, too, Angelo." Maya said, smiling over at her friend. "Now the whole gang's here-"

"-And we are all going to the same school as our parents did when they were our age!" James finished for his sister, his smile copying his twin's. Then they said together, "It's absolutely great!" The trio laughed together as they neared the gates, seeing the Belpois van already waiting for them. Odd, Aelita, and Jeremie were conversing while waiting for the children and they, too, were laughing as they were talking. Aelita was the first to notice the children.

"Hello! How did you enjoy your first day?" she asked them with a sweet smile.

"It was good." the twins said in unison, making Jeremie and Odd chuckle. Angelo nodded in agreement with the twins, smiling up at his 'aunt'.

"Thank you for giving us a ride, Aunt Aelita, Uncle Jeremie." he said.

"It was no problem," Jeremie said. "Odd, we'll take a look at your car again to see what it is that could be causing the problem this time." Angelo's dad looked a little sheepish after Jeremie spoke.

"Okay, that sounds good. I'd hate to bother you and Aelita again for a ride." he admitted, looking a little embarrassed.

"What I think you should definitely do if it's giving you that much trouble is buy a new car. Or at least one that runs better than the piece of junk you call a car." the twins' father responded. Odd just gave Jeremie another embarrassed smile as he opened the van to let the kids climb in.

As soon as they got to the Della Robbia's small house, the twins and Angelo went immediately inside to start on homework while Jeremie, Odd, and Aelita tended to Odd's car....if it really deserved to be called that. As soon as the students got done with their homework, they went to watch TV in the living room, squishing themselves together comically on the couch before actually settling themselves in sitting positions for real. It was fun being able to hang out like this for them. The most they normally got to see each other was whenever one or the other of the gang's family decided to pay a visit to the other's family. And that wasn't really that often. Now, since all five were attending school together, they would get to see each other more often than normal.

They were in the middle of a scary part of a ghost hunting show when the adults came in, making the three jump in terror. Maya clung to Angelo, making the ginger blush a little before she gathered her wits and let his arm go.

"D-Dad, Mom. You guys almost gave us heart attacks!" James exclaimed, being the first to have his voice return to him. Jeremie looked at the television disapprovingly.

"James, you know how you and your sister get when you watch shows like this. What were you thinking?" he scolded.

"What? W-we're not scared. Right, Maya?" the pinkette boy asked, turning wildly to his sister.

"R-right! W-we're not scared at all!" Maya said, looking otherwise.

Odd walked by the couch and called over his shoulder as he was getting into the kitchen to cook, "Michelangelo, you better not try and sneak into my room again. Remember the last time you watched something that scared you?"

Angelo blushed brightly. "Da-ad!" he exclaimed, thoroughly embarrassed. The twins looked at him confusedly.

"What did you do?" James asked.

"Shut up..." the red-head groaned, sinking into the couch. "Don't remind me..." They wisely didn't say a word.

"I'll help you cook, Odd," Aelita offered, following him into the kitchen.

"Oh, thanks, Princess." Angelo heard his dad say. Angelo thought for a moment before turning to the twins' father, who was settling himself into a chair that was also in the living room.

"Hey, Uncle Jeremie, why does my dad call Aunt Aelita 'Princess?'" he asked curiously.

Jeremie looked up surprised for a moment before chuckling. "Oh, it's just a nickname Aelita had when we were kids. Ulrich called her 'Princess,' too, you know." He smiled as he pushed his glasses up. "I had a nickname the others called me, too, when I was your age."

"Really? What's that, Dad?" James asked this time.

Jeremie smiled brightly. "'Einstein'. That was my nickname. You have Angelo's father to thank for it. I can't remember the last time I was called that, really."

"Hey, Einstein, if you have enough energy to jabber about when we were kids, at least find something funny to tell them." Jeremie chuckled.

"Okay, Odd." he called, chuckling again. "Ha, your father is still just about the same from when I first met him, Angelo. I'm just surprised you don't act more like him."

Angelo shrugged. "I don't know. I guess I take after my mom..." Angelo frowned a little and didn't notice Jeremie's expression as he thought about his mom...whoever she was. He had never seen her before. Not even pictures. His entire life he had had only his father in his life. Who was his mom, and why wasn't she here? Did she pass away?

"Aelita, careful with that!" Angelo was broken out of his thoughts from his father's sudden exclamation. He didn't see Jeremie's relieved expression as he heard Aelita apologize to Odd for being careless. The children laughed as she continued apologizing while Odd was cooking rather irritably now, leaving Jeremie as the only one not laughing as he looked off.

That evening...

"Thank you for dinner, Odd." Jeremie said cheerfully as the Belpois family prepared to head home. "You two should come over soon and have dinner at our house."

"Oh, it's the least I can do for troubling you for a car ride...and temporarily fixing my car again..." Odd said, his arms folded in front of him.

Aelita smiled. "It was no trouble at all."

"And you really should get a better car soon, Odd. That car's not going to last that long." Jeremie added.

Odd chuckled nervously. "Yeah, I know. I'll see what I can find."

"And I'll come with you to make sure it actually works-unlike the one you have now."

"Really, Jeremie, you don't have to do that..."

Maya hugged Angelo cheerfully. "See you at school tomorrow, Angelo!" she chirped, making Angelo blush lightly.

"Um, yeah, you, too, Maya!" he responded, trying to cover up his surprise. She let go and followed her parents and brother to the van.

Odd closed the door and smiled teasingly at Angelo. "So...how long have you had a crush on Maya?" he asked.

Angelo almost jumped out of his skin. "Wh-wh-what are you talking about?! I-I don't have a crush on Maya!" he exclaimed, his blush increasing into a traitorous bright pink.

Odd smiled. "Suuure you don't." he said. "It's so cute. My son's first crush! I never would have thought that Aelita and Jeremie would be my relatives in the future, but if this keeps going, you two may end up married!" He laughed to himself. "Actually, Maya would make an adorable daughter in-law!"

"Da-ad!" Angelo exclaimed once again. His dad laughed and ruffled his hair.

"Oh, you know I am just teasing you, Michelangelo...though she would make a cute wife for you." He smiled while Angelo glowered at him, still bright pink. "It's getting late. You get to bed, now. I've got to finish the kitchen before I hit the sack myself."

"Okay, Dad," Angelo headed to the stairs and headed up towards his room. He turned and looked down at his dad. "Good night, Dad." he said.

Odd smiled at him. "Good night son. I'll see you in the morning." Angelo nodded and finished climbing the stairs to his room. He slipped out of his day clothes into his night clothes, then climbed into bed, falling asleep before he even could think.

He hoped tomorrow would be like today. It was the best day of his life so far.

Little did he know that it would soon turn upside down...
